The conversation carried on for a few mundane hours and was almost heading nowhere. The initial charm of tormenting Kavita was gone. I had a lot on my mind and wanted to get on doing what I had come for. Fate on the other hand had a brought in a long lost tryst and I knew I had to balance both the ends of this noose or it may come back around and smack me of my feet again.

I had to make an exit on some pretext somehow and explore the area soon. It had been three years and yet no sign from her, this was the last place she ever visited. Where could she have gone? No one seems to have an answer.

Her parents gave up on her long ago and wouldn't even bother to help me look for her; none of her friends want to help me either. Though it doesn't come as surprise she was the types not many would want to associate themselves anymore.

I on the other hand had a strange fascination towards repeatedly falling for how as my friend described as "special charitable cases".

This was as they say one them, when no one cares where she went why should you?

I got up early the next day and knew if I left without making a fuss no one except the elderly guard whom I had bribed to help me reach the nearby village. This was exactly where she was last seen and it wasn't surprising as many people over the years have disappeared in the valley. The police could not find any trace of her and had long stopped investigating. Her parents weren't that cooperative and even denied knowing her at all. I did smell foul play, she was not their real child. She came to live with them when her parents passed away in this very same valley some twenty years ago, leaving a sizable fortune which now was with them.
